Glenfinnan House Hotel

Last year I was lucky enough to be booked for a wedding in the Scottish Highlands. The venue was The Glenfinnan House Hotel, situated on the shore of Loch Shiel.

The Hotel and the Glenfinnan area is very relaxed, with a calming, and friendly atmosphere. Glenfinnan House Hotel is located in the beautiful Highland countryside. It’s very charming and idyllic. The feeling was that of an age passed, with old traditional values, still being at the heart of the Village and the Hotel.

Prince Charlie’s Monument

Glenfinnan House Hotel, built in 1745, is situated on the shore of Loch Sheil, standing across the bay from Bonnie Prince Charlie’s Monument. The monument was built in his memory surrounding the 1745 Jacobite Rising. The monument is owned by the Scottish National Trust since 1938.  Ben Nevis rises in the distance, as you look up from the monument.  As a Wedding Photographer the landscape of this area is perfect. I captured some amazing wedding images, and some fabulous landscape pictures too.

The Jacobite Steam Train, is described as the greatest railway journey in the world. Thousands visit the area each year to view this magnificent steam train. It also attracts those fans in search of the Hogwart’s Express, as this is the famous train used in the Harry Potter films. You can take a train ride on the steam train across the Glenfinnan viaduct. This in itself is a masterpiece of British engineering, and well worth a visit, even if you’re not into

Glenfinnan House Hotel is a stunning wedding venue. It’s also perfect for any celebration, or even a romantic get away. It’s set in a fabulous location, which, boasts a wealth of heritage, history, and breathtaking scenery. I’ll certainly be visiting again, hopefully for another dreamy wedding, or maybe for a short romantic weekend myself…
