Overstone Park Wedding Photographs

Kara and Martin

I met Kara and Martin at the end of 2016. We had arranged a meeting over coffee at their home. We chatted about their hopes for the day, and their fears of being in front of the camera. They had chosen Overstone Park wedding venue. Neither of them enjoyed having their picture taken. In order to make them more relaxed we organised a pre-wedding shoot a week before the Wedding which was held in May this year!

Pre Wedding Shoot

We met for the shoot at Stoke Bruerne. This seemed a perfect backdrop for the couple who really needed some confidence in front of the lens. It’s a great way to get to know each other too, and for all to feel more relaxed at the wedding.  We spent around 2 hours walking along the canal, viewing Narrowboats, and then a walk through the woods. I mainly let them be themselves, occasionally throwing in a couple of posed images, just to ease them into it gently. By the end of the shoot, they appeared a lot more relaxed and were looking forward to their wedding day, and me taking their images.

The wedding day arrives

The day of the wedding I arrived at the venue, for the Bridal preps. The Bride had two Bridesmaids, her sister and her Niece. It was all very relaxed. I carried out the dress, shoes, and prep shots. I occasionally visited the Wedding Breakfast room to see if it had been decorated as the Bride wanted to know how it looked. I also wanted to get shots of the finished room before the ceremony commenced, along with the wedding ring shots.

I find it’s important for me to get the ring shots at this time. I usually spend about 15 minutes on the ring shots and have often got my ideas in mind before the day. Quite often, ideas go out of the window, as you may locate something special at the venue, where the rings can be shot!

The Wedding Breakfast

The day ran past very quickly. Martin and Kara’s ceremony ran to time, with a lot of tears during their vows. Bride and Groom emerged as Mr and Mrs, and the couple walked a short walk with their guests to their reception area. Champagne and canapes were served. During this time the group shots were carried out. We had about an hour before they would be led into their wedding breakfast. We managed to work very quickly capturing the group shots. The time arrived for the meal to be served. The wedding speeches took place. There was much laughter throughout, with the Bride’s Sister delivering a very well written speech.

Wedding Photography by the lake

The couple had planned on their images being taken by the lake, which was near the 17th hole. To get their we went in convoy using golf carts, having a near miss with a golf ball miss-hit straight into the windscreen of my cart, thankfully we were not hurt, and I lived to tell the story.

We carried out the lake shoot around 6pm, just as the sun was starting to set. It was a stunning view and evening. The couple headed back off to join their guests for the evening reception. Needless to say I joined too capturing lots of laughter, and dance floor antics.
